Shortly after dissolving the Assembly and setting December 28 as the date for new elections, President Vjosa Osmani received the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, for a meeting at the Presidency.

According to an official statement, the discussion focused on the latest political developments in the country and the organization of early elections.

“President Osmani emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth electoral process and upholding the highest democratic standards. The meeting also addressed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, during which President Osmani reaffirmed her full commitment to strengthening the partnership with Kosovo’s most important strategic ally,” the statement noted.

Osmani signed the decree dissolving the Assembly following consultations with party leaders, after the second mandate to form a government — this time under Glauk Konjufca — also failed on Thursday.

The President stated that the lack of political will to vote on the state budget and key international agreements left elections as the only democratic solution.

As for the selected date, December 28, President Osmani linked it to enabling the diaspora to participate in the voting process as well.
