Kosovo Police today closed the Tax Administration in North Mitrovica, which had been operating within the Serbian system, due to “illegal activities.”
It has also been confirmed that the Serbian insurance company, Dunav Osiguranje, has been closed due to suspicions of operating without a license.
Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, told Radio Free Europe (REL) that the police assisted officials from the Central Bank of Kosovo during this operation, and the prosecutor has classified the case as “misuse of economic activity.”
Dunav Osiguranje is a joint-stock company from Serbia, offering over 100 services in life and property insurance.
On its official website, the company lists its branches, including one in North Mitrovica, in the northern part of Kosovo.
The closure of these institutions is a continuation of actions aimed at shutting down Serbian institutions in Kosovo, which the official authorities in Prishtina consider “illegal.”
