Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, held a press conference on Tuesday where he discussed the suspension of U.S. military aid to Ukraine. Shmyhal reassured the Ukrainian public, stating that the military currently possesses the necessary weapons and equipment to maintain frontlines despite the suspension of aid.
The Prime Minister confirmed that Ukraine will continue to cooperate with the United States through all available diplomatic channels. He emphasized that his country is ready to sign an agreement with the U.S. regarding minerals, which would grant the United States access to Ukraine’s rare mineral deposits.
Shmyhal invited the U.S. side to sign the agreement, stressing that U.S. military assistance is “critical” for Ukraine to save thousands of lives. He declared that Ukraine is determined to continue its cooperation with the U.S. to achieve a lasting peace.
The Prime Minister also thanked the U.S. for its continuous support over the past three years, calling their aid “vital” for Ukraine. He further expressed gratitude to Europe for its support and praised the plans announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for an additional €800 billion in funding for European defense.
