U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Cuba on Sunday, urging the island nation to negotiate a deal with the United States or risk severe economic consequences.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared that Cuba will no longer receive oil or financial support that it historically depended on from Venezuela — a drastic shift tied to recent U.S. actions in Venezuela.

“There will be no more oil or money going to Cuba — ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE,” Trump wrote.

Trump noted that for many years Cuba relied on large quantities of Venezuelan oil and financial aid, with Havana providing what he called **“security services” in return — but he said that arrangement has ended.

According to the reports, this warning comes amid broader U.S. pressure following the U.S.-led operation in Venezuela, including the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and efforts to redirect Venezuelan oil away from Cuba.

The cessation of Venezuelan oil exports to Cuba — which historically made up a significant portion of Havana’s energy imports — could intensify economic hardship on the island, where energy shortages and structural issues already weigh heavily on the economy.

Experts suggest that the loss of this support deepens Cuba’s ongoing socio-economic crisis, which has been exacerbated by decades of sanctions, internal policy challenges, and diminished external aid.
