Agim Musliu the President of Board of the Octopus and an expert on Security has strongly condemned the Serbian List (Srpska Lista) for openly violating Electoral Regulation No. 07/2024 during today’s parliamentary elections in northern Kosovo. According to Musliu, the party has been organizing supporters near its offices in Mitrovica and other northern municipalities, in direct violation of the mandatory election silence period.
Electoral Regulation No. 07/2024, Article 8, explicitly prohibits political parties from holding campaign meetings or gathering officials near polling stations from the opening until the closing of voting. Despite these clear rules, the Serbian List has mobilized voters under the influence of Belgrade’s authorities, demonstrating the ongoing political pressure exerted by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on the local Serbian community in Kosovo.
“This is not merely a violation of the electoral law but part of a broader pattern of coercion and manipulation of the Serbian population in northern Kosovo, orchestrated from Belgrade,” Musliu stated. He called on the Central Election Commission, the Kosovo Police, and the State Prosecutor’s Office to take immediate legal action to prevent further abuse of voters’ rights.
The Serbian List has a history of electoral law violations. During the current campaign, it was fined €30,000 following a complaint from another Serbian political party in the north, underscoring a pattern of systematic disregard for Kosovo’s electoral framework. Analysts argue that such actions serve to reinforce Belgrade’s influence in the region, undermining the democratic rights of Kosovo’s Serbian citizens and the integrity of the electoral process.
Musliu warned that continued pressure and manipulation from Belgrade threaten both free voting and the cohesion of Kosovo’s multiethnic society, calling for strict enforcement of electoral regulations to ensure a transparent and fair election.
