The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) has welcomed the organization and response of journalists from Kosovo media in requesting transparency from the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE), after they were asked to discuss “bilaterally with journalists, without cameras,” writes Rks News.

Last week, ZRRE had invited only journalists to a “consultative meeting” without the presence of cameras and media, to discuss the possible increase in electricity prices.

In response, AGK has called for transparency and accountability from this public institution.

Full Statement:

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) welcomes the organization and response of journalists from Kosovo media in requesting transparency from the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE).

Last week, ZRRE had invited only journalists to a “consultative meeting” without the presence of cameras and media, to discuss the possible increase in electricity prices. Today, journalists refused to participate in the meeting without the presence of cameras. AGK applauds this action by journalists, which not only shows solidarity but also demands transparency and accountability from a public institution.

AGK calls on ZRRE to ensure the publication and openness of all discussions that lead to a final decision, so that citizens are fully informed about such an important decision for the public interest.
