Ahead of the local elections scheduled for this Sunday across all municipalities of Kosovo, President Vjosa Osmani held a meeting with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Kreshnik Radoniqi, reports Gazeta Sinjali.
According to the Presidency’s statement, Osmani emphasized the importance of conducting a peaceful, orderly, and fully transparent electoral process, describing it as the foundation of democracy and of citizens’ trust in the country’s institutions.
During the meeting, she placed particular emphasis on direct interventions by Serbia in local elections, a phenomenon she noted has repeated over the years and manifests through vote-buying, external interference, intimidation, and violence.
“On this occasion, the President strongly condemned the interventions of official Belgrade, calling for full commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process. She also appealed to all political and institutional actors, as well as international partners, to contribute to safeguarding free voting and to denounce any illegal acts that threaten the democratic will of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” the statement read.
