The Agency for Information and Privacy (AIP) has once again urged political parties in Kosovo to ensure the protection of citizens’ personal data during the February 9, 2025, parliamentary elections campaign.
Call for Compliance with Data Protection Laws
In an official statement, AIP emphasized that political entities must adhere to legal obligations regarding data privacy. The agency specifically warned against:
- Using personal data for campaign-related emails, SMS messages, or phone calls without prior consent.
- Exposing citizens’ personal data in any form of communication.
Commitment to Data Protection
AIP reaffirmed its willingness to cooperate with all political parties to ensure full compliance with data protection laws. The agency stressed that any personal data collected during the voter registration process or electoral campaign activities must be used strictly within legal parameters.
This announcement comes amid growing concerns over data privacy violations during election periods in Kosovo.
