A London-bound Air India plane with 242 people on board has crashed just minutes after taking off from the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on Thursday. The Indian federal Health Minister confirmed that “many people” have lost their lives in the tragic incident.

The aircraft, an Air India flight, was en route to Gatwick Airport in Britain.
