Severe flooding continues to affect large parts of Albania following days of heavy rainfall, with fresh snowfall worsening the situation and causing extensive material damage.

Authorities have confirmed the first fatality related to the floods. A 54-year-old man, identified as A.H., was found lifeless in a drainage canal near former military facilities close to Durrës.

Initial reports indicate that the man was swept away by the water while engaged in cleaning the canal as part of a municipal team, according to local media.

The Ministry of Defense has stated that conditions remain critical in several districts, particularly Shkodër, Lezhë, Durrës, Fier, Berat, and Gjirokastër, with emergency teams actively working to assist affected communities.

Authorities continue to urge residents to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow safety instructions as floodwaters persist.
