Shkodër, Albania – June 15, 2025 – Albanian Police have discovered and destroyed a total of 12,203 suspected cannabis sativa plants and seedlings in the Shkodër region. This success is attributed to combined operations involving aerial drone monitoring and ground patrols, Gazeta Sinjali reports.
The operation was carried out in two administrative units:
- Pult, Shkodër: Forces from the Shkodër Police Station discovered and destroyed 455 narcotic plants. In connection with this case, forest engineer A.M. has been prosecuted while at large, under suspicion of abuse of duty and failure to report a crime.
- Temal, Vau i Dejës: Vau i Dejës Police destroyed 11,748 cannabis plants. For this case, the following individuals have been criminally prosecuted: the village head of Kllogjen, for abuse of duty; P.Sh. and F.G., forest rangers, also for abuse of duty.
Police stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators involved in the cultivation of these narcotic plants.
