The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Albania has published the latest voter turnout figures for the ongoing parliamentary elections, reporting that 16.76% of registered voters had cast their ballots by 11:00 AM.

This data is based on reports from 2,559 voting centers, according to Top Channel.

Compared to the local elections two years ago, this represents an increase of around 2%.
In contrast, the turnout during the general elections four years ago was 20.81% by 11:00 AM.

Polling stations opened across Albania on Sunday morning, as citizens head to the polls to elect 140 members of the Albanian Parliament.

In this election:

  • 2046 candidates are competing for 140 parliamentary seats.
  • Of these, 1259 are men (61.53%) and 787 are women (38.47%), representing 11 political parties.

The official voters list includes over 3.7 million eligible citizens, both residing in Albania and abroad.
For the first time in history, Albanian emigrants are allowed to vote, with 246,000 diaspora voters already having cast their ballots by mail in the weeks leading up to May 11.
