Albania takes a significant step towards strengthening its national defense as the acting Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, announced the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement with his French counterpart, Sébastien Lecornu, aimed at modernizing the capabilities of Albania’s Armed Forces.
The agreement is a direct outcome of the initiative led by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and French President Emmanuel Macron, who have also advanced cooperation in critical sectors such as energy security, tourism, and innovation.
“With special attention from Prime Minister Rama and President Macron, vital progress has been made in key areas. The agreement signed with my friend and counterpart Sébastien Lecornu is designed to strengthen and modernize our Armed Forces,” Vengu stated in an official social media post.
The visit of President Macron to Albania, marked by multiple agreements impacting the economy and security, further underscores the European Union’s commitment to treating Albania as a trusted partner and a pillar of regional stability.
This partnership symbolizes a forward-looking vision for defense cooperation and regional peace, reflecting the shared strategic interests of both nations.
