Albania is facing a serious wildfire situation, with 19 new blazes reported in the last 24 hours, of which 4 remain active.
According to data from the Ministry of Defense, fire hotspots have been identified in several municipalities across the country, including Dibër, Bulqizë, Mat, Rrogozhinë, Vorë, Tirana, Vlorë, Kuçovë, Krujë, Librazhd, Prrenjas, Malësi e Madhe, and Korçë.
Efforts to extinguish the fires involve:
- 36 fire engines
- 394 operational personnel
The Ministry announced that the entire civil protection system is on full alert and is closely monitoring the situation on the ground, ready to intervene as needed.
Authorities have issued an appeal to citizens, urging maximum caution in open environments: “We call on citizens to avoid lighting fires in open areas and to immediately report any fire to the firefighting services. Even the smallest carelessness can have serious consequences for the environment, property, and people’s lives.”
