On the fourth day of severe weather, 1,587 homes and 13,211 hectares of land remain flooded in Albania.

The figures were presented during a meeting of the Civil Emergencies Council, chaired by Prime Minister Edi Rama. In response to the situation, €50 million have been allocated, and the Prime Minister announced that affected residents will be compensated.

Some improvement has been noted in certain areas where floodwaters have begun to recede.

Durrës

The situation remains challenging, although some areas show signs of improvement. In Durrësi i Ri (former Kënetë), emergency teams are actively working on-site to normalize conditions. Verification and assessment of flooded homes continue, with 2,380 homes already identified as affected. Currently, 356 people have been evacuated, with 123 accommodated in hotels and 304 housed in facilities managed by the Ministries of Interior and Defense.

Sukth and Vadardha

In Sukth, conditions have slightly improved. In Vardardha, floodwaters are receding, though authorities remain on alert due to widespread flooding effects. 322 people have been evacuated, 76 housed in hotels, and 246 with relatives.

The Vjosa River saw decreased flows overnight. At the Mifol Bridge, the water level is at 8.4 meters, allowing gradual drainage of flooded areas. However, the Bishan area remains problematic, with underpasses submerged under about 2 meters of water, preventing vehicle traffic.

Fier and Korçë

In Fier County, the hydrometeorological situation is more stable, with rivers lowering and main infrastructure operating normally.
In Korçë County, heavy rain, snow, and low temperatures continue to cause problems, especially in Gramsh municipality, where power outages and blocked villages have been reported.

Weather Forecast and Alerts

Meteorologist Hakil Osmani from Metoalb warned that temperatures will drop below zero in the coming days, accompanied by rain, snow, and winds reaching 80 km/h.

The Durrës municipality has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise maximum caution due to strong upcoming winds.

Flood Impact on Cemeteries

Recent floods have not spared cemeteries, including those in Jubë village, Durrës, where the water has completely submerged the area, preventing residents from attending to the graves of loved ones.
