Albania will hold a state funeral tomorrow, November 2, in honor of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano, who passed away on October 31 in Tirana, at the age of 72.

The official ceremony will take place at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the public paying their respects.

At 11:15 a.m., speeches will be delivered by a family representative and Prime Minister Edi Rama, Nano’s successor as the leader of the Socialist Party. In addition to Albanian state officials, distinguished personalities from Kosovo have also been invited to attend the ceremony.

Following the official tributes, Fatos Nano’s body will be escorted to his final resting place at the Sharra cemetery, accompanied by state honors. A private religious service will be held by the family.

In Nano’s memory, national flags will be flown at half-mast, and at 12:00 noon, a nationwide moment of silence will be observed across Albania.

Nano, a pivotal figure in Albania’s post-communist political transformation, served several terms as prime minister and played a central role in shaping the country’s democratic institutions and foreign policy direction.
