Albania will open four new chapters in its EU membership negotiations on September 16, during a meeting called by the Danish Presidency of the EU, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Facebook.
EU Ministers to Attend
According to Rama, the chapters will be opened in the presence of foreign ministers from all EU member states, signaling strong support for Albania’s accession process.
Record Progress in Negotiations
These four chapters add to 24 previously opened chapters, bringing the total to 28 chapters in just 11 months. Rama described this as a “record achievement” in Albania’s EU negotiation history.
Focus Areas of New Chapters
The new chapters cover key sectors under the Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity, including:
- Transport
- Energy
- Trans-European networks
- Environment
“Another milestone has been set on the path to Albania’s 2030 goal in the EU,” Rama stated.
