The Albanian-American Council for Relations, based in Washington, says it is closely monitoring the political developments in Kosovo and remains firmly committed to supporting any effort that strengthens the country’s democratic institutions and Kosovo’s international standing — particularly its enduring partnership with the United States of America.
In a statement released publicly, the Council expressed deep concern over the ongoing political deadlock and the failure to constitute the Assembly in accordance with the will of the citizens.
“This institutional paralysis is unjustifiable. It undermines public trust, weakens the state, and leaves Kosovo exposed in an increasingly unstable global environment,” the statement read.
The Council welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court and praised the willingness of political actors to accept it as a legitimate way forward.
“Kosovo has a proud tradition of respecting the rule of law and constitutional authority — this moment requires the same commitment.”
On this occasion, the Council urged all parliamentary parties to attend the next session with a sense of urgency and unity, and to reach an agreement to elect the Speaker of the Assembly and form the government without delay. “The country must move forward,” was the clear message.
“U.S. support is essential — but it demands effective governance and continuous coordination. Kosovo’s institutions must demonstrate maturity and clarity at this crucial moment,” the statement continued.
Finally, the Albanian-American Council reaffirmed its commitment to serve as a bridge between Kosovo and the United States, and to amplify the voice of the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.
