The Constitutional Court of Albania has suspended the decree issued by President Bajram Begaj concerning the partial local elections in Tirana, Euronews Albania reports.

The Court unanimously decided to bring the case filed by Erion Veliaj before a public plenary session on October 31, 2025, and to suspend the part of the President’s decree setting the election date in Tirana Municipality.

Veliaj’s lawyers challenged Begaj’s decree, which had scheduled the partial elections for November 9, arguing that it violated the Constitution.

The Constitutional Court convened within the statutory timeframe, considering that Veliaj’s appeal was filed the previous Thursday, and the deadline for review was 10 days.
