A tragic incident occurred in the rural area of Rafina, near Athens, where a 41-year-old Albanian man was found dead in a vineyard, shot in the face with a firearm.

The victim was discovered after an 18-hour search operation by Greek authorities.

According to police sources, shortly before succumbing to his injuries, the 41-year-old managed to call his wife. In that final call, he told her the name of the person who had shot him and gave her an approximate location using nearby coordinates.

Shortly after the call, he lost strength and died at the scene.

His wife immediately alerted the police, prompting an intensive search in the area.

Authorities first found the victim’s blood-covered phone, followed later by his lifeless body.

The victim has been identified as Altin Arapaj, an Albanian citizen with a criminal record in Greece, known for involvement in drug-related cases and other offenses. Investigators suspect his murder was linked to a personal vendetta or criminal dispute.

The man named by the victim as the shooter also of Albanian origin and known to Greek police for drug-related crimes has been declared wanted by the authorities.

The area remains sealed off as investigations continue to fully document the murder and locate the perpetrator.
