The State Police of Albania announced that it has intensified monitoring of the country’s maritime, lake, and river areas through the Maritime Police Unit and Border Police, with the goal of strengthening safety.
According to the official report dated August 31, 2025, officers inspected 321 watercraft from Koman to Ksamil during the past week, of which 20 were seized for various violations.
The blocked vessels include 11 jet skis, 5 speedboats, 3 inflatable boats, and 1 metal motorboat. Authorities emphasized that 8 of these were caught operating inside designated safety perimeters, posing direct risks to swimmers.
“The operators have each been fined 100,000 ALL for their violations,” the State Police clarified.
In addition to inspections, the Border Police and Maritime Unit also carried out multiple rescue operations this week. In total, 38 people (both Albanians and foreign nationals) and 17 vessels were saved at sea thanks to rapid intervention between Ksamil and Koman.
The Police urged citizens to strictly respect navigation rules, including:
- Avoiding breaches of safety perimeters.
- Sailing only in designated areas.
- Carrying all required life-saving equipment.
- Refraining from using small craft in unsafe weather conditions.
