During an official visit to North Macedonia, Albanian President Bajram Begaj emphasized the importance of dignified representation for the Albanian community and the full implementation of laws governing the use of the Albanian language in the country.

“The Albanian factor in North Macedonia has been, is, and will continue to be a state-building, cooperative, inclusive, constructive, and democratic actor, contributing significantly to Euro-Atlantic integration,” Begaj stated during a joint press conference with North Macedonian President Siljanovska-Davkova.

Focus on Strategic Projects

Begaj also highlighted the strategic importance of the Corridor VIII project, describing it as a key example of how security and development intersect.

Corridor VIII connects the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, reducing distances, lowering costs, and increasing competitiveness. For businesses, it is a trade artery; for citizens, a source of employment; for the region, a message that cooperation is more profitable than isolation. Corridor VIII is more than just a transport route — it is a strategic project for regional integration and Euro-Atlantic security, positioning Albania and North Macedonia at the heart of this strategic corridor,” Begaj said.

He stressed that in 2026, the region faces new geopolitical challenges, and that European security today relies on tangible infrastructure and strategic interconnectivity, not merely declarations. Investment in Corridor VIII represents collective defense, economic growth, and regional integration.

Commitment to Good Neighborly Relations

Begaj assured President Siljanovska-Davkova that Albania remains committed to political, economic, and social cooperation, as well as to promoting good neighborliness and dialogue in the Western Balkans.
