Patriarch Pavle left a prophecy that maintains hope that Serbs will ultimately prevail in Kosovo and Metohija. Secret writings, which are moved to a different monastery every month for security reasons, support this belief.
In the prophecy, which only a small number of trusted individuals selected by Patriarch Pavle himself during his lifetime have access to, it is said that Kosovo and Metohija will be returned to Serbia because Albanians will leave en masse. The prophecy also states that Russia and Serbia will make the final division of the Balkans.
This will happen, according to the secret writings, which are moved to another monastery every month for security reasons, after a final conflict in which Serbia will end up on the winning side.
- “Kosovo will be returned to Serbia because, for some reason, Albanians will simply no longer want it, and this has already begun to happen with the mass departure of Albanians from the province,” Patriarch’s words were conveyed by Monk Jovan Sinđelić, who guards the documents.
Many priests and monks had the opportunity to talk with the late Patriarch. He was naturally quiet and reserved, which is why he confided information about future events to a select few. After the holy liturgy in the Gračanica Monastery, Patriarch on Vidovdan 2005 stated that one must never give up the defense of Kosovo and Metohija.
- “With our lives and life of faith, and even in silence, let us preach the words of Jesus. Both in times of peace and freedom, and in times of enslavement and in the struggle for freedom. The Lord Jesus Christ warns our apostles, as well as all of us, thus, let our light shine before men that Vidovdan’s good deeds may glorify our Father, who is in heaven. It is the duty of all of us, brothers and sisters, to live, act, and govern ourselves by our faith,” Patriarch Pavle said then.
The Patriarch in his prophecy also warned that there will be an attack on Christians in Europe, both Orthodox and Catholics. Monk Jovan notes that the settlement of Islamists in Europe marks the beginning of this religious war.
- “The last days will be particularly crisis-ridden for the Serbian Orthodox Church as it will lose the respect of believers. The modern lifestyle will pull all traditional values, and atheism will prevail. The settlement of Islamists in Europe coincides with the predictions of the Patriarch,” testified the monk.
The Patriarch often spoke about Kosovo and Metohija, and in all his messages, he called on believers to fulfill the Kosovo, Saint Lazar’s covenant because Kosovo and Metohija “is not just a question of Serbian territory” but is a question of the spiritual being of Serbs.
- “If we keep that covenant, no one will take Kosovo and Metohija from us. We call on everyone, from politicians and scientists to the most humble and youngest sons and daughters of our homeland, to earn and preserve Kosovo and Metohija before God with their work and righteous living,” he said in the Easter message of 2008, signed by all bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
His words about the holy Serbian land of Kosovo and Metohija are still remembered today.
- “The homeland is the heart of a man, and we have placed Kosovo and Metohija in our hearts. Let Kosovo and Metohija be one of the first words that every parent whispers to the newborn child. Let every farmer dedicate and devote the first furrow plowed to Kosovo and Metohija,” said Patriarch Pavle.
