President of the People’s Movement of Serbia (Narodni pokret Srbije), Miroslav Aleksić, has urged the opposition and citizens to increase pressure on President Aleksandar Vučić’s regime in order to ensure that elections are held as early as possible.

“It is up to all of us who share common values to fight and give our best so that elections happen as soon as possible,” Aleksić said during the session of the party’s Main Board, adding that “the regime of Aleksandar Vučić will try to avoid elections because it knows it no longer has public support, and that Serbia has risen against it.”

Aleksić described the situation as a decisive political battle, noting that elections could take place “in May, or even at the end of the year if we are not strong enough to pressure them to happen in the spring.”

Calling Vučić’s government a “political monster”, Aleksić stressed that “nothing good can happen until they are removed from power”, arguing that Serbia must be “freed from usurpers and criminals in government so that the sun may shine again on our people.”

He criticized attempts to downplay the role of political organizations in democratic processes, emphasizing that “a country cannot be governed without politics and political parties.”

Aleksić also accused the ruling authorities of trying to divide those who stand for the same values, saying that unity among citizens — including students, farmers, doctors, and lawyers — is essential.

“Only together and united can we resist this dictatorial regime. There must not be a trace of division among those who fight for the same values,” Aleksić declared.
