Ali Sadriu, former Minister of Economy and Finance and former Executive Director of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), has passed away at the age of 75.
The news of his death was confirmed by his close family members.
In a Facebook post, his son Flamur Sadriu announced the loss, writing:
“Dear friends and family, it is with deep sorrow that we inform you that today our beloved father, Ali Shaban Sadriu, passed away. We will inform you in due time about the funeral arrangements.”
Who Was Ali Sadriu?
According to the official biography published on the website of the Assembly of Kosovo, Ali Sadriu held several key institutional and political roles throughout his career:
- Executive Director of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK)
- Member of Parliament for the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) during multiple terms:
1992–1998, 1998–2002, 2002–2004, 2004–2008, and 2011–2014 - Minister of Economy and Finance from 2002 to 2004
- Co-Director of the Central Fiscal Authority (2000–2002)
- Financial Director at the Faculty of Medicine (1977–1980)
- Financial Director at Bankos (1980–1990)
- Financial Director at the Electrical Tools and Water Equipment Factory (1975–1977)
Sadriu was widely recognized for his long-standing contribution to Kosovo’s public finance system, healthcare administration, and legislative institutions.
