British Member of Parliament Alicia Kearns has reaffirmed her strong support for Kosovo following her decoration with a presidential medal by Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani. The recognition highlights Kearns’ longstanding advocacy for Kosovo’s sovereignty, peace, and democratic development.
Recognition for Advocacy of Peace and Sovereignty
Kearns described the award as a significant personal and professional honor, emphasizing that her support for Kosovo has consistently been rooted in fundamental human rights and international stability.
“It is a true honour to receive the Presidential Medal of Merit for my support for Kosovo’s peace and sovereignty,” Kearns stated.
She stressed that her engagement has always been guided by the conviction that Kosovo’s citizens deserve to live in security and dignity.
“My support for Kosovo has always been guided by the belief that its people have the right to live in peace, security, and dignity,” she added.
Warning Against Regional Destabilisation
Kearns also highlighted broader geopolitical concerns, warning about threats stemming from irredentist policies and expansionist ambitions that could undermine regional stability in the Western Balkans.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining strong alliances and supporting countries that face external political and security challenges.
“We have a duty to stand firmly with our allies who face irredentism and imperial ambitions,” Kearns noted.
Tribute to International Military and Civilian Service
The British lawmaker further paid tribute to international veterans and personnel who have served in Kosovo, particularly those from the United Kingdom, underscoring that their contributions continue to shape her commitment to the country’s stability and democratic progress.
“Many veterans have served locally in Kosovo, and my determination is strengthened by the resolve not to allow their service to be in vain,” she wrote.
Strengthening Kosovo–UK Relations
Kearns’ statement reflects the continued diplomatic and political backing Kosovo receives from British officials, reinforcing bilateral cooperation in areas including security, governance, and international advocacy. The recognition also underscores Kosovo’s efforts to honor international figures who have played a role in supporting its statehood and global integration.
