The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) has responded to claims of alleged interference by the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution in the decision-making processes of the KPC.
The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) has informed the public that the claims of such interference are inaccurate, as neither the SPRK nor its Chief Prosecutor has exercised, nor can exercise, influence over matters that fall under the exclusive competence of the KPC.
“Any attempt to involve the Special Prosecution in internal debates of the KPC undermines the integrity of the prosecutorial system. The Chief Prosecutor, Mr. Blerim Isufaj, remains committed to fulfilling his mandate as head of the Special Prosecution, excluding any claims of holding any other position, as evidenced by the appointment of a prosecutor from the Office of the State Chief Prosecutor as acting Chief Prosecutor of the State,” the statement reads.
The Special Prosecution reaffirms its commitment to continue performing its functions with full independence, serving the public interest with dedication and transparency.
