Suspicions of vote manipulation have emerged in the village of Shipol, Mitrovica, following Sunday’s election process. The Kosovo Police have launched preliminary investigative actions to clarify the allegations.

Valon Preteni, spokesperson for the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, confirmed that the police are collecting information related to these suspicions.

“Police are currently gathering information regarding the allegations of vote misuse in this location,” Preteni stated.

According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission (CEC), PDK candidate Arian Tahiri leads with 15,368 votes (47.89%), while Vetëvendosje’s candidate, Faton Peci, received 15,340 votes (47.8%) — a margin of only 28 votes.

This extremely close result is expected to send both candidates into a runoff election (ballotage). The narrow gap has sparked public reactions after noticeable discrepancies with exit polls, which had predicted a first-round victory for Tahiri.

The Kosovo Police and the Prosecution Office continue to investigate the claims of vote buying and vote theft in Shipol to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
