The Alliance for Albanians (ASH) has issued a strong reaction following recent comments by Telekom Serbia CEO Vladimir Lučić, who announced an additional €50 million investment in North Macedonia. The party claims this is not merely an economic development, but rather evidence of a growing geopolitical agenda led by Serbia – what they refer to as the “Serbian World” project.
In a public statement, ASH warns that North Macedonia is rapidly becoming an economic and media colony of Serbia, with no institutional response, no public debate, and no strategic vision to protect the country’s sovereignty.
“What happened in Montenegro is now happening here before our eyes,” the party states, pointing to a pattern of telecommunications market capture, media space occupation, and critical infrastructure being handed over to companies controlled by the Vučić government.
ASH accuses the ruling VMRO-VLEN coalition of being passively complicit, preoccupied with political appointments and superficial reforms while Serbian influence expands unchecked.
The party raises serious national security concerns, asking:
“Is Telekom Serbia a neutral economic investor, or a political instrument of Belgrade aimed at controlling information networks and public narrative in North Macedonia?”
It further questions whether the €50 million investment is strictly for fiber optics and cellular networks, or if it also serves to fund structured propaganda, build political influence, and prepare for deeper destabilizing operations in the region.
Call for Transparency and National Security Review
ASH demands full transparency from the government regarding this investment, and a clear confirmation that EU standards for strategic investment screening have been respected.
They also call on the National Security Agency (DSK) and the Commission for the Prevention of Foreign Influence to launch a thorough investigation into Telekom Serbia’s involvement in North Macedonia.
“To govern means to protect the national interest. In this case, VLEN is failing gravely,” the statement reads, accusing the ruling coalition of remaining silent at a critical moment for national sovereignty.
The party concludes with a firm position:
“We will not be spectators to this dangerous scenario. The Alliance for Albanians will not allow North Macedonia to become an outpost of the ‘Serbian World’ in the heart of the Balkans. Nor will we allow Albanian citizens to be subjected to a new wave of economic, media, and political domination orchestrated from Belgrade.”
