In a heartfelt statement following the award of the Presidential Order “Ibrahim Rugova,” U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, expressed his deep gratitude and honor for the recognition. The prestigious honor was presented to him by President Vjosa Osmani during a ceremony held last evening.
Hovenier described his tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo as a “great privilege,” highlighting the significance of his work and dedication in ensuring peace and stability in Kosovo. He also emphasized the importance of building a sovereign, democratic, and multi-ethnic state.
“I am deeply honored and grateful to be awarded the Presidential Order ‘Ibrahim Rugova’ by President Vjosa Osmani last night. This recognition holds great meaning for me and reflects the collective efforts and commitment of all those who have worked to ensure peace and stability in Kosovo and to advance our shared vision of a sovereign, democratic, and multi-ethnic state. It has been a tremendous privilege to serve as the U.S. Ambassador here in Kosovo,” Hovenier stated emotionally during the ceremony.
President Osmani shared a video from the event, underscoring the profound impact Hovenier had on Kosovo, stating that he was “more than an Ambassador” to the people of Kosovo.
“He stood by us when the people of Kosovo were victims of horrific crimes. He was with us when we reported the Racak massacre. He was with us as we laid the foundations of our independent state, and he has stood by us in recent years in defense of our independence, sovereignty, and our unbreakable alliance with the United States. Thank you, Ambassador Hovenier!” President Osmani wrote on Facebook.
