The ambassadors of the QUINT states visited the office of Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, on Friday. The topic of discussion was the announcement regarding the potential opening of the Ibar Bridge.
The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, told reporters that they do not support the decision of the Government of Kosovo to open the Ibar Bridge.
“We, the representatives of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States… met with Prime Minister Kurti to inform him that our governments, in consultation with NATO, cannot support any changes to the current status of the Mitrovica bridge at this time,” Hovenier stated after the meeting with Kurti.
He declined to comment on the reasons behind their lack of support for this decision.
