U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier spoke about the upcoming U.S. presidential elections, expressing appreciation for the interest shown by the people of Kosovo in these elections.
He stated that the United States is a mature democracy and its institutions are solid, adding that regardless of the outcome, the U.S. government will continue to represent the American people.
“Elections are always a way to celebrate because they are an essential act in democracy, where citizens can express their will to make decisions for their country…
We greatly appreciate the interest of the people of Kosovo in our elections, and I think this campaign and these elections have once again shown how alive, how rich, how active Americans are in taking on their civic responsibility, and how truly engaged they are in the question of what direction we should take and who should lead our country.
The United States of America is a very mature democracy. We have been doing this for over 200 years. Our institutions are solid. I don’t know the outcome of these elections, but I know that whoever wins, the American people will continue, and the U.S. government institutions will continue to represent the people of the United States,” Hovenier said in an interview with Kanal10.
