The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has expressed serious concern over disruptions in the movement of goods between the European Union, regional transit corridors, and the Republic of Kosovo.

In an official statement, the Chamber called on the European Commission to urgently engage in finding a balanced and sustainable solution to the ongoing challenges affecting international cargo transport and cross-border supply chains.

“Recent developments, including roadblock actions by truck drivers in several regional states related to the implementation and enforcement of new EU entry rules and the EES system, are significantly obstructing the movement of goods,” the statement reads.

According to the American Chamber, free movement of goods and uninterrupted road transport are essential to ensure resilient supply chains, support economic activity, and advance economic integration with the EU single market.

“The disruptions are already affecting businesses through delivery delays, the risk of contract breaches, financial losses, and potential loss of international clients. Given Kosovo’s heavy reliance on imports and transit through regional corridors, prolonged interruptions threaten supply chain stability, increase operational costs for businesses, and may lead to higher consumer prices. These developments also negatively impact investment planning and financial obligations linked to production cycles and delivery deadlines.”

The Chamber further urged all relevant stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and work toward practical, predictable, and long-term solutions that ensure uninterrupted movement of goods within European and regional supply chains, while maintaining the integrity of EU border management systems.
