After being proposed by Albin Kurti for the position of Minister for Family and Social Welfare, Andin Hoti spoke openly about his personal convictions and the reactions he has received recently.

Hoti shared that some comments have deeply affected him:

  • “Until today, I respected you as Ukshin Hoti’s son, but not anymore,”
  • “You tarnished your father’s name.”

He criticized these remarks as hypocritical, saying they reveal no concern for ideals, only political alignment.

“It’s disgusting when someone ties respect for a person to their own political beliefs. So, I was ‘good’ as long as I thought like them, and ‘bad’ once I thought for myself,” Hoti said.

Recalling his family’s struggles after the war, he emphasized the sacrifices made:

“A few days ago, a friend told me: ‘Andin, remember all those loyal to Ukshin, when you were not a public figure.’”

Hoti stressed that no one can dictate his beliefs:

“Neither you nor anyone else can impose my convictions. I do not sell them, exchange them, or negotiate them.”

He affirmed his commitment to serve where he feels he can contribute most:

“I am where I want to be, where I see it right to be, where I think I can give my contribution to the country.”

Finally, he expressed disappointment over false respect, stating:

“The only time I was deceived was when I believed some respected me for who I am, and not for the political beliefs I held.”
