The body of Alexander Tyunin, CEO of NPK Khimprominzhiniring, a subsidiary of the state nuclear giant Rosatom, was discovered near his car on the outskirts of Moscow, close to a forested area.

According to reports, a hunting rifle and a farewell note were found near the 50-year-old executive. In the letter, Tyunin allegedly cited depression as the reason for taking his own life.

While Russian authorities have classified the incident as a suicide, the case has fueled strong suspicions, as Tyunin is the 20th high-ranking Russian executive to die under questionable circumstances since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Tyunin had led Khimprominzhiniring since 2016, overseeing the production of carbon composites for the military and energy sectors. The company is part of Umatex, a specialized Rosatom division placed under U.S. sanctions in February 2023.

His death follows a troubling pattern of mysterious fatalities among top Russian industrial and energy leaders, including Alexey Sinicin, Dmitry Osipov, and Mikhail Kenin, all found dead in recent months.

These developments come at a time when the Russian economy faces deep slowdown, with growing internal tensions in state and industrial structures.
