The vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris, secured enough support among the delegates of the Democratic Party to become her candidate for president.

An Associated Press poll released late Monday showed Harris has the support of more than the 1,976 delegates needed to win the nomination.

Voting will take place from August 1 to 7.

This convention will start work on August 19 and will end on the 22nd of that month, reports rel.

Delegates are those who are chosen to represent their constituency at the Democratic National Convention, where the presidential candidate is formally announced.
