US negotiators have engaged in talks with Russian representatives regarding a potential partial ceasefire in the ongoing war in Ukraine, following separate discussions with a Ukrainian team. These efforts aim to secure a 30-day ceasefire, but progress has been hindered by ongoing attacks from both sides, including drone and missile strikes.
One significant disagreement centers around which targets should be off-limits, even after US President Donald Trump communicated with both Russia and Ukraine’s leaders. The talks, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, have made some headway, with discussions potentially leading to a pause in Black Sea attacks to safeguard commercial shipping.
