The Appeals Chamber of the Kosovo Special Court has rejected the request of Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi to overturn the Basic Court’s decision, which denied their temporary release. All three are former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Their initial request for temporary release, filed after the conclusion of the Special Prosecution’s case, was denied by the Basic Court on May 13, 2025. Veseli, Selimi, and Krasniqi then appealed the decision, temporarily waiving their right to the usual bi-monthly review of detention until a new ruling is issued.
Former President Hashim Thaçi did not submit a similar request for temporary release, as he is also facing another ongoing trial for attempted obstruction of justice.
