Ardian Gjini, the Mayor of Gjakova, has revealed details about his meeting yesterday with Nikolla Xhufka, a self-proclaimed priest from Albania described as a highly controversial figure suspected of activities outside religious and social norms. Mayors Përparim Rama (Pristina) and Gazmend Muhaxheri (Peja) also met with Xhufka, but have yet to comment.

Gjini’s Account of the Meeting

Gjini told Insajderi that the meeting took place at Xhufka’s request. He stated that he had no prior knowledge of Xhufka before the visit to his municipal office.

“The meeting was at his request. I didn’t know him before. We mainly discussed history and religion,” Gjini told Insajderi. Gjini had also made an official announcement about this meeting on Facebook.

Xhufka’s Request for Albanian Orthodox Churches

Media reports indicate that Xhufka himself stated that during his meetings with the mayors, he requested space to build Albanian Orthodox churches. “I asked the Mayor of Pristina to give us a facility. We want every city to have its own Albanian Orthodox church,” Nikolla Xhufka declared.

Controversial Figure Receiving Support

Nikolla Xhufka is a self-proclaimed priest from Elbasan, Albania, who has garnered negative attention for what are described as irresponsible statements and actions that have provoked numerous controversies. Previously, Xhufka was featured in a scandalous video showing him in intimate situations with another male, which reportedly violated both religious community norms and public trust in him.

Despite his controversial background, Xhufka has recently been received and openly supported by the mayors of Kosovo’s three largest municipalities: Pristina, Gjakova, and Peja.
