Ten people were injured in a shooting attack outside a nightclub in New York while waiting to enter a private event, according to the police.

Around 15 people were standing outside the Amazura nightclub at 11:15 PM on Wednesday (5:15 AM Thursday CET) in the Queens neighborhood when four men approached the group, which included individuals aged 16 to 20.

Three of the four men began shooting at the group, New York City Police Patrol Chief Philip Rivera said this morning in a statement to reporters.

Approximately 30 gunshots were heard before the attackers fled on foot. They were later seen getting into a vehicle with license plates from another U.S. state.

“There is zero tolerance for these senseless gun attacks,” Rivera stated.

Six women and four men were transported to the hospital, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to the police.

A large presence of police officers and several ambulances were seen outside the Amazura nightclub in social media footage.

The motive for the attack remains unknown, but Rivera confirmed it was not terrorism.
