The Kosovo Customs announced on Sunday that approximately 300 kilograms of explosives were seized in Vërmicë.
According to the statement, at around 16:30, customs officers stopped a cargo van for inspection, which was then sent to the second-line control for a detailed check as part of inter-institutional cooperation with the Border Police.
During questioning, the vehicle’s occupant claimed they were not carrying any goods requiring declaration. However, the inspection revealed undeclared and highly dangerous materials (explosives) packed in sacks and parcels—weighing around 300 kilograms—hidden in the vehicle’s luggage area and camouflaged with fishing equipment.
“The goods were seized, and proceedings for a customs offense were initiated in accordance with the provisions of the Kosovo Customs and Excise Code (KDAK). The case has been handed over to the Border Police, which is continuing with further legal actions,” the statement reads.
