Yesterday it was reported that water supply tariffs could rise starting in January next year.
Infokus reported that sources close to regional water supply companies said they are facing difficult financial conditions.
According to the outlet, bills are expected to increase by up to 70%, based on requests submitted by the Regional Water Companies (KRUs).
In response, the Water Services Regulatory Authority (ARRU) stated that it is currently engaged in the regular three-year tariff-setting process.
ARRU said it is now reviewing the tariff applications submitted by water service providers, IndeksOnline reports.
Among other points, the Authority stated:
“The tariff-setting process, as foreseen by the legal framework, is preceded by a public discussion, which we are conducting across all regions. Each Regional Water Company (KRU) submits its tariff request for the next three years, while the Water Services Regulatory Authority conducts an independent professional analysis and evaluation of the applications according to the tariff methodology, challenging the Regional Companies to increase efficiency.
At the current stage of reviewing the tariff applications, we cannot speak about tariff levels. This process will be completed by the end of December, when the Tariff Orders for the next three years (2026–2028) will be issued for all Regional Water Companies.”
