Ukrainian officials said at least three people were killed in overnight Russian attacks targeting residential buildings in the eastern city of Kramatorsk.

The February 8 strikes involved heavy bombs, officials said — weapons Russia has used both to destroy Ukrainian positions along the front line and to devastate civilian areas.

Nearly 20 people were wounded in the early-morning attacks, according to the National Police.

Overall, Russia launched more than 400 drones and missiles at locations across the country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. In a post on Telegram, he complained that Russian weapons continue to be supplied with imported foreign components, while announcing new measures aimed at cutting off these supply chains.

Along with Sloviansk, Kramatorsk is one of the two main cities Ukraine still controls in the eastern Donetsk region. Both are considered “fortress cities,” crucial to Ukraine’s defense in the region.
