A horrific act of violence has shaken the Minneapolis community, where a man opened fire on a group of students praying in a local church, killing two children and injuring 18 others.

The assailant has been identified as Robin Westman, and investigators have stated that he had no specific motive.

“The attacker seemed to hate everyone,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara in a statement to the media on Thursday.

He added, “Above all else, the perpetrator wanted to kill children,” reported BBC.

Investigators emphasized that Westman was “obsessed with the idea of killing children,” according to preliminary findings.

The two children who lost their lives in this tragedy have been identified by their families as Fletcher Merkel, 8, and Harper Moyski, 10.

The attack has sparked strong reactions from the local community, religious leaders, and authorities, while investigations are still ongoing.
