An audio recording circulating on social media shows Pavle Bihali, leader of the controversial animal rights group Levijatan, describing himself as being “on a leash” and acting only under orders to avoid imprisonment.
In the recording, Bihali allegedly states: “I am a dog, a leash, and I have no problem saying it, because I have done things in life for which I was blackmailed to be a dog. I can be a dog or go to prison. I choose to be a dog.”
He further claims he does not make decisions independently and follows instructions given to him, emphasizing that he has no real authority over the organization’s actions.
Bihali also mentions the personal toll of his role, saying he is constantly reachable by phone and lacks a private life, with no time for leisure activities.
The recording was first shared by Benjamin Žigić from Tuzla, who allegedly recorded it after a confrontation with Bihali. Žigić has a criminal record for serious offenses, including drug abuse, illegal weapons possession, and property crimes.
Levijatan Controversies
Founded in 2015, Levijatan officially focuses on animal rights, but its members have been involved in multiple incidents and attacks. Several members have faced criminal charges, with some convicted for assault and abuse, often targeting critics of Bihali.
More than a year ago, the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a request with the Constitutional Court to ban Levijatan, accusing it of violating human rights and operating as a paramilitary group; a decision is still pending.
Previous reports also suggest that Bihali’s operations may involve financial schemes and enforcement activities, with allegations of intimidation, extortion, and organized aggression
