Today, Albanian President Bajram Begaj met with his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Van der Bellen, to discuss Albania’s path to European Union membership and the broader Western Balkans region. Van der Bellen emphasized Austria’s commitment to keeping the region high on the European Union’s agenda.
“A Austria will ensure that the Western Balkans remain a top priority in the EU’s expansion efforts,” said Van der Bellen. “Albania can count on Austria’s full support as it strives for EU membership and our continued efforts to make EU Enlargement and the Western Balkans a central issue within the EU.”
Van der Bellen also highlighted the significant progress Albania has made in recent years and reaffirmed the country’s ambition to join the European Union by 2030.
“Albania has made substantial progress and has become one of the frontrunners in the EU membership process. The country’s ambition is to join the European Union by 2030,” he added.
