Hykmete Bajrami, Member of Parliament from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has sharply criticized the economic policies of the Government, accusing Prime Minister Albin Kurti of harming businesses and endangering citizens’ welfare.
In a Facebook post, Bajrami condemned the decision by the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE), which, according to her, is expected to increase electricity prices by up to 260% for large employers starting June 1.
“Albin Kurti, with his policies, is forcing the employers of 143,000 workers onto the streets,” she wrote.
Bajrami highlighted several developments she says demonstrate a serious economic crisis in the country, including:
- Two years under European Union sanctions;
- A historic post-war record trade deficit;
- 100,000 fewer jobs, according to government data;
- Thousands of single-bid contracts in the public sector;
- High energy bills threatening the closure of hundreds of manufacturing businesses.
“The situation is unbearable and unacceptable! These destroyers must be stopped along with the energy mafia that is ruining the country,” Bajrami declared.
She demanded the immediate cancellation of the ZRRE decision and called for an audit and investigation of all institutions and companies operating in the energy sector, including ZRRE, KOSTT, KEK, the Ministry of Economy, and the private sector.
