The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, marked the 27th anniversary of the Reçak massacre, one of the gravest crimes committed by Serbian occupying forces during the Kosovo War.

In a social media post, Balla recalled that 45 Albanian civilians were brutally massacred in the village of Reçak, emphasizing that justice for this and other massacres still remains unfulfilled.

He noted that, while commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) are being unjustly held in The Hague on charges he considers unfounded, the actual perpetrators and those who ordered the massacre continue to evade accountability.

Balla also stressed that witnesses of the Reçak massacre and other crimes are passing away without seeing justice served, making the preservation of collective memory and the demand for accountability even more urgent.

“Never forget Reçak,” Balla wrote, describing the massacre as a symbol of the pain and sacrifice of the Albanian people of Kosovo.

The Reçak massacre remains one of the events that shocked international opinion and served as a turning point for international intervention in Kosovo.
