Prishtina, July 22, 2025 — The judicial process in the high-profile “Banjska” case resumed today at the Basic Court in Prishtina, with the three defendants: Blagoje Spasojević, Vladimir Tolić, and Dušan Maksimović present in the courtroom after being escorted by police.
The defendants face serious charges related to their alleged involvement in the September 24, 2023, armed attack in the village of Banjska, municipality of Zvečan. The attack resulted in the death of Kosovo Police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku, and the injury of several other officers.
Several police officials who participated in the counterterrorism operation have already testified in court. Yesterday, a protected witness gave testimony behind closed doors, without the presence of media or the public, due to security concerns.
The case is part of a broader indictment filed by the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, charging 45 individuals with terrorist acts and crimes against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the indictment, the group, heavily armed, aimed to seize control of northern Kosovo, particularly Serb-majority municipalities, with the intent of annexing them to the Republic of Serbia.
The alleged ringleader, Milan Radoičić, has been identified as a key figure in the planning and coordination of the attack. Radoičić remains at large and is currently sanctioned by the United States and the United Kingdom for ties to transnational organized crime and corruption.
This trial is being closely watched domestically and internationally, as it touches on sensitive issues of sovereignty, security, and cross-border destabilization efforts.
