FC Barcelona has decided to restrict public appearances and interviews of their young talent Lamine Yamal following comments that sparked media reactions in Spain.
The Catalan club canceled a promotional event for OPPO, where the 17-year-old was scheduled to present the Find X9 series in Barcelona. An interview with Sky Italia was also called off.
According to reports by Victor Nahe in Directo Gol, Barcelona communicated with Yamal’s agents, emphasizing that it was not the right time for public exposure. This move is part of the club’s internal strategy to carefully manage media exposure for the teenager, who has already become an important figure in the first team.
The decision comes after Yamal made controversial remarks about Real Madrid during Gerard Piqué’s Kings League match last week. Sources close to the club say Yamal understood the decision, recognizing that his comments had caused unnecessary controversy without benefiting himself or the team.
Barcelona remains committed to protecting Yamal’s image and development, viewing him as a key part of the club’s long-term project.
